Blood borne pathogens can be transmitted
from the blood of an infected person and
transmit certain infectious diseases to
individuals who have an unprotected exposure.
Therefore, blood borne pathogen education should
be included when receiving First Aid and CPR
training.
Blood borne pathogen training
can help individuals take universal precautions
to protect themselves from unprotected
exposure. This will reduce the risk of becoming
infected. Understanding how to clean-up blood
and other body fluids can also protect others
from being exposed to infectious diseases. Some
blood borne pathogens can continue to be
contagious even up to seven (7) days after
coming in contact with any surface. Therefore,
it is important that contaminated surfaces must
be properly cleaned or sanitized to prevent
exposure.
We offer an OSHA approved Blood borne pathogens program which will provide more detailed information.
