Basic First Aid for
the Community and Workplace (4 hours)
Basic First Aid for the Community and Workplace
is a basic first aid training program. It is
designed specifically to provide lay persons
with the minimum knowledge and skills necessary
to provide emergency care for suddenly ill or
injured adults prior to the arrival of
emergency medical care professionals.
CPR and AED for the
Community and Workplace (3-4 hours)
CPR and AED for the Community and Workplace is
a Basic Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Life
Support (CPR-BCLS) training program with also
includes training in the use of Automated
External Resuscitators (AED). It is designed
specifically to provide lay persons with the
minimum knowledge and skills necessary to
provide CPR prior to the arrival of emergency
medical care professionals.
Emergency Medical
Response for Adults in the
Workplace (8 hrs)
Emergency Medical Response for Adults in the
Workplace is a combined CPR, AED, and basic
first aid training program with a focus on
adults. It is designed specifically to provide
lay persons with the minimum knowledge and
skills necessary to provide emergency care for
suddenly ill or injured adults prior to the
arrival of emergency medical care
professionals. This flexible and easy-to-use
program replaces Essentials for Basic Emergency
Care and is intended for individuals who
require or desire basic emergency care
knowledge and skills. Emergency Medical
Response will help employers meet regulatory
requirements for CPR, AED, and First Aid
training in the workplace.
This full-day course also contains expanded
information on blood borne pathogens and
emergency oxygen administration to enhance
knowledge and understanding of these two
important and related emergency care topics.
The information presented is for informational
purposes only - to receive certification cards
in these topics, students must take the full
Blood borne Pathogens or Emergency Oxygen
Administration courses.
Blood borne
Pathogens - BBP (1 hour)
The ASHI Blood borne Pathogens program includes
information that will help students understand
what blood borne pathogens are, and how
students can reduce the risk of exposure for
themselves and others. The program assists in
satisfying the training requirements of the
U.S. Department of Labor, OSHA Blood borne
Pathogens Standard (29 CFR 1910.1030).
Emergency Oxygen
Administration
Serious and life-threatening medical
emergencies often cause oxygen to be depleted
in the body, leaving the victim at risk for
cardiac arrest or brain damage. Supplemental
oxygen is a critical step in treating a severe
or life-threatening illness or injury. ASHI's
Emergency Oxygen Administration program focuses
on administering emergency oxygen, rescue
breathing and oxygen delivery devices.
The Child and
Babysitting Safety (CABS) / (5 hours)
The Child and Babysitting Safety (CABS) program
is a community education program that covers
child safety and basic care techniques for
infants and children. The Child and Babysitting
Safety (CABS) program stresses the priority to
keep the babysitter and the children they care
for safe. Babysitting is not just "watching"
the children, but being responsible for their
safety and well-being. When caring for a child,
you are taking care of a parent's most
cherished treasure. Everything in their home
and your own home can be replaced- everything,
that is, except a child.
Pet First Aid
Program (4 hours)
The Pet First Aid program provides Instructors
with an Instructor Guide, video, student books
and completion cards. This program provides
information on caring for ill or injured dogs
and cats, as well as guidance about when pets
should be taken to the veterinarian for
professional care.
Pet First Aid is the immediate care given to
an injured or suddenly ill pet as temporary
assistance until competent veterinary care is
available. Properly applied first aid can save
your pet's life, reduce recovery time and be
the difference between temporary disability and
lifelong disability. This program concentrates
on basic first aid care. It is not intended to
replace veterinary care, but rather to instruct
the pet owner on how to treat a pet's during an
emergency.
